Megan & Danny are Gettin' Hitched!

I, Luke's wife BreAnne, have known Megan for. ever. We have been friends since birth, and she is one of my closest friends. I remember when Megan met Danny, and something just clicked. After their first "date," they just stuck. Apparently, Danny has yet to ask Megan to officially be his girlfriend! But there is something so special about a relationship that establishes itself. Obviously, they are meant to be! Luke and I have become really close with these two, and we were so excited when we got the call on Christmas Eve announcing their engagement!!!!! They were both a special part of Luke and my wedding party back in October, and we are so excited for them as they plan their big day and start their new life together!

This shoot was full of firsts! Luke has jumped right into portrait photography, and this was his first engagement shoot! This was my first time assisting him as the stylist and stager (so. fun.) And obviously, this was a first for Megan and Danny ;) They were such troopers as we ran around in the freezing cold, Santa Cruz weather dodging rain clouds and muddy puddles!

Congrats friends!

Ladies and Gentlemen... the future Mr. and Mrs. Danny Dequine!!

A note on the ring: it's kind of an heirloom ;) Danny had his Grandmother's ring melted down to make Megan's. The metal and side diamonds belong to Danny's Grandma, the two diamonds around Megan's center stone belonged to Danny's mom, and the center stone is new for Megan. As Danny puts it, that ring represents all of the special women in his life =)

good. job.

It was such an honor for me to get to shoot these pictures for Danny and Megan. I met Megan after I started dating BreAnne in 2007. When Megan and Danny started dating I thought "Ok, we need to meet this guy and see what he's all about!" Funny thing is, I already knew Danny! lol. See, back in my ridiculous MySpace days when I would shamelessly self promote myself, I had a knack for getting myself into almost any local show I wanted to... without paying! Well Danny used to put on a lot of local shows, but I hadn't seen him for a while until he started dating Megan, so naturally it was like seeing an old friend! Since then I've gotten to know Danny as more than just the guy who put on shows and have become very good friends with him. I knew from the start that he was the right guy for Megan!

Katy Graduated!

CONGRATULATIONS KATY!

Let me start by saying what a trooper Katy was during this shoot. We hit up Downtown San Jose for these pictures and let me tell you, it was NOT warm out! I mean, sure, I had a nice comfy warm coat with a hood, but Katy had to brave the elements in her cap and gown. Wind, cold air, rain, puddles, etc.

It was such an honor for Katy to have asked me to capture some pictures during this very important time in her life. At some point during the afternoon I remembered that Katy is a gifted photographer as well and has shot people's engagement and wedding photos in the past. That's when my "Uh oh" moment hit me. Am I doing this right? Are these pictures going to be any good? So on and so on. I soon realized that it's actually a good thing because as a photographer, she knew what I was trying to achieve and could easily pose the way that would look best for the pictures. This was very nice for a portrait newbie like myself. Lol.

We found this neat house while driving around and I thought it would make for a neat shot. The only thing was, what if people were inside?! Well, having no fear, Katy knocked on the door and told the people that we wanted to use their front door for our pictures. Thank goodness they weren't crazy people! lol.

For those who don't know, I met Katy at San Jose State. We were fortunate enough to share some classes together where we had a professor that drove us out of our minds on a daily basis. "Can I get an Amen?" The picture on the right made me think of how we often felt in those classes! Speechless and ready to go crazy! Haha.

Again, congratulations Katy! You're done!
