Steven and Karla {"Trash The Dress" session}

{Post by Luke}

What can I say about how we know Karla?!? For those who don't know, she is one of the Portale family kids. Here's the problem with trying to answer how we know Karla, she's part of the PORTALE family! EVERYONE knows the Portale's! It's hard to believe that in a city that boasts around 1 million people, that there are families that have the small town ambience of a family who is well known in a town of only a couple hundred people. But the Portale family is one of those families.

As for Steven, I do remember meeting him while I was working as an assistant photographer (or "assistant to the photographer" for you Office fans out there!) at their friend's wedding last August. Until that point, I had only heard about Steven... this mystery man who swept Karla up off her feet and asked her to marry him! After I met Steven in person, it was very obvious why Karla fell for him.

So when Karla approached us about doing a fun "trash the dress" session, I immediately thought, "ABSOLUTELY!".

We had such a great time capturing some nice romantics of them in their wedding gear! They are complete naturals in front of the camera, as you can see, which makes it so easy to get great pictures. I mean, they could go into the modeling business and do just fine! Of course, as you can tell, the dress did not actually get "trashed", and honestly, why would you want to trash that dress of hers?

See what I mean about them being able to go into the modeling business if they wanted to... total naturals!

BLING!

Attack of the kiss!!

Here is the start to the 'Dirty Dancing'... running, jumping, lifting move!

Here goes nothing....

....can they do it??
Accomplished... well, at least the 'planking' rendition! LOL!
Lookin' good Steven!

We are so happy that we were able to take some time and hang out with you guys and goof around while snapping away and capturing your love on camera!

Taylor and Laura's Engagement

{Post from Bre}

Laura and I go way back! We met in high school during study hall my freshman year, her junior year, and we bonded over boy drama, etc. I viewed Laura as a sort of older sister figure: she was pretty protective of me and would encourage me to stick up for myself. I distinctly remember her rushing into study hall one day, telling me that she and another friend of hers had been behind my ex-boyfriend in the stairwell, and that the two of them just started talking super loudly about how great I was hahaha oh the funny, random things you remember from high school!

Well, the days of boy drama are no more! Laura has found herself a really great guy! Taylor is so sweet, and it is clear that he adores her. During our session, as we climbed through the "nature," Taylor would just pick Laura up and carry her wherever we needed them so she wouldn't fall over in her high heels. That's love my friends =) We had an absolute blast on this shoot with them in Santa Cruz, where they live. We explored some areas around the college up there, and ended our session by the ocean. Laura was quite freaked out because we were pretty much shooting on a cliff...(see pictures towards the end of the post) It was also so fun meeting their gorgeous daughter, Madison Ysabella, who just turned one years old!

Congratulations on the engagement you two! Wishing you many blessings as you plan your big day!

On our journey, we came across a hammock that someone has set up in the middle of the forest... we did not use it. But couldn't pass up getting a picture of it!

As you can see, Taylor was the first one to run down towards the cliffs!

As we were shooting, we noticed the blowhole on the cliff and Taylor decided to inspect it... and then jumped away as the air came shooting up!! LOL
