Welcome to the 1985Luke Photography Blog!

Hello there! Welcome to my first photo blog! First thing's first, let me answer the question that is probably going through your mind right now: "What does the '1985' stand for?"

The answer is simple, it's the year I was born! However, I would have to say that it is a result of a great friend of mine, Brandon, who used to always come over to my house and log on to MySpace. I asked him what that website was and why he always went on it. Once he showed me a little bit about it, I challenged him and said that I could get more friends than him... and I did! As a result of ridiculous self promoting antics, I decided to use 1985LUKE as my profile name on there. It has since then stuck with me across various social media platforms... and has a nice ring to it if you ask me. :)

I graduated from Lincoln High School of San Jose in 2003 and was given a camera for graduation from my parents. Much like my grandpa, who I can't remember a time seeing him without a camera, I have rarely been without one myself! Since I took such a liking to photography I ended up majoring as a Photojournalist from San Jose State University where, at one point, over 100 of my photographs were on display in the Dwight Bentel Hall. Click here to see the pictures I'm talking about!

Most of my photography has been centered around Nature. With inspiration of a good family friend, who also happens to be our dentist, I forced myself to really search out things that can be photographed that other people would probably just pass up.

Recently I've been encouraged by family and friends to get into portrait photography. At first I just passed it off and just said that I only do nature photography, not people.... blah blah blah. I realized however, that I need to look at it the same way that I look at nature photography, just add people! Luckily I have an awesome assistant (who also is my awesome wife) named BreAnne Cunningham to help me out with this new photography adventure!

I hope you enjoy this new photo blog as much as I am looking forward to using it to share my photography.
